Wakan Village

Before discussing about Wakan Village, let us learn about Wadi Mistal in the Wilayat of Nakhal in the Governorate of South Al Batinah which has  tourist villages with special  characteristics like  mild climate in summer and very cold in winter and  geographical diversity. These villages are Al Qurah, Al Hajar, Hadash and Wakan.

 

About 32 km away from the center of the Wilayat of Nakhal and 145 kilometers from the Governorate of Muscat is where Wadi Mistal is located precisely. In addition to growing many field crops, onion, garlic and legumes, there are several mountain villages in Wadi Mistal that are renowned for growing seasonal crops in winter and summer like pomegranate,apricot, wild cranberry, grape and peach and that is harvested during this period.

At an altitude of 2,000 meters above sea level, the Wakan village is situated in Wadi Mistal.

As Wakan Village has unique tourist landmarks and features, it is the destination for tourists from outside and within the Sultanate. It is the only village in the Sultanate with atypical early sunset and a late sunrise virtually but remember that the rest of the villages in the  Wilayat of Nakhal has no different timings. The weather here is cooler in summer and colder in winter perhaps due to this special nature.

Located in the exact places in the cliff along with green terraces alike the agricultural crops and topography of Jabal Akhdar, several mountain ranges of towering heights surrounds the village.
