13-YO Girl Molested, Later Panchayat Punishes Her By Chopping Off Her Hair As She Was ’Impure’

A 13-year-old girl's hair were chopped off and ostracised as part of purification process after she was molested by a man in Kawardha district of Chhattisgarh.

The regressive decision was given by the panchayat of her own tribe. The victim and her family works as daily wage labourers. The incident took place on January 1, when a drunk man, identified as Arjun Yadav, molested her.

Some members of the village witnessed the entire incident and punished both, the accused and the victim, with fines.

"However, on February 4, the Baiga Adivasi community, to which the girl belongs, convened a meeting and ostracised her family stating that their daughter had become impure due to the molestation incident", according to OneIndia.

Shockingly, the molester was set free after he paid the fine, but the villagers decided to punish the girl further.

They issued a diktat that the girl's family would organise a feast of mutton and alcohol for all members of the community.
