Filipino-Made Gigantic ship, Now one of the world’s biggest commercial vessel
The Filipino-made gigantic ship is now considered as one of the biggest commercial container vessels in the world.
Filipino people are known as one of the most skillful and hardworking people not only in Asia but all in different countries all around the world.
Recently, Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction-Philippines have launched the 20, 600-TEU class container vessel, which was created mostly by Filipino people.
TEU means Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit, which is used to measure the carrying capacity of a ship’s cargo with an equivalent of a 20-foot shipping container.
The new gigantic ship is as big as four football fields, which has 40-meter length, 59-meter width, and 33-meter depth. It was made in Subic, Philippines.
The shipping vessel was designed by Korean nationals, but Filipino workers have crafted the gigantic ship.
Jo Yoo-Hoan, managing director and naval architect at Hanjin Heavy said that they were proud of it although the construction of the ship took more than two years.
“We’re very proud of it, with the Philippine workers and the staff, very proud of them. They are so organized, so kind, and so skillful. Wonderful, you know, workers. Our relationship between Korea and Philippines is fantastic,” said by Jo.
Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Senator Richard Gordon have also witnessed in launching the Filipino-made container vessel.
The ship was made for French shipping company CMA CGM SA and will be delivered soon to its owner.
