Arsenal set to change home colours for next season

Arsenal kit for next might well possibly have been leaked online and the fans are set for a treat if this really comes true. According to the very reliable kit website Footy Headline, the Gunners are set for an overhaul of their the colours and will revert back to an all-maroon kit similar to the one they wore in their last season at Highbury.

The Gunners had reverted to the all-maroon kit in the 2005/06 season – their final one at their old stomping ground – Highbury as a mark of respect to their original home colours (redcurrant, a darker shade of red).

And now after 12 years, the Gunners might again pull on their original colours – which had earned rave reviews in 2005/06. That season had seen Arsenal go on to the final of the Champions League only to lost out to Barcelona after their keeper Jens Lehmann was sent off in the opening minutes of the contest.

It looks like Arsenal could be going back to a maroon kit next season.

Arsene Wenger will certainly hope that a change colour might as well bring about a change in fortunes as the North London side look set to miss out on a Champions League spot for the second year running.

While the real jersey designs are not out yet, Puma seems to have already produced designs for their pre-match jackets and training kits. And by the looks of things, the manufacturers are set to take a maroon route for next season.

No one is sure as to how this will go down with the fans and why this decision was taken by the Arsenal hierarchy.

Whilst the last time was to honour Highbury, this might as well be a way of saying goodbye to Arsene Wenger as he will enter his last year of contract with the Gunners.
