Oman weather: Tropical depression develops into storm, gets a name
The tropical depression which is moving westwards off the Indian coast and towards the centre of the Arabian Sea had developed into a tropical storm, according to Oman’s Public Authority for Civil Aviation.
In a statement PACA also announced that the storm has been officially named Hika.
Direct effects from the storm are expected to begin in Oman on 24 September, with rain and heavy wind over North Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta Governorates.
A statement by PACA's Directorate General of Meteorology read: "The tropical depression has developed into a tropical stormand has been named Hika."

The condition, according to PACA, is expected to weaken as it approaches Oman. “But it will stell effect North Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta. Earlier predictions had included "isolated heavy rain with amount ranges between 30-60 mm and fresh winds ranging betweeb 25-35 knots,” PACA added.
