Horse racing: Royal Cavalry of Oman’s Riyam and Sylvine Al Maury triumph at Dubai International Race in UK

The Royal Cavalry of Oman won two titles in the Dubai International Race for Pure Arabian Horses organised at Newbury racecourse in the U.K. with ‘Riyam’ taking the top honours in the 1400m competition and Sylvine Al Maury emerging the winner in the 2000m race.

‘Riyam’ came first in the 1400m 3rd race for the 2nd class of three-year-olds where 11 horses competed. ‘Riyam’ was ridden by E. Mackenzie and trained by Said Al Badi. 




Athba Stables’ ‘Shomoos Athbah’, ridden by Taj O’Shea and trained by Philip Collington finished second while stallion Maolie, ridden by Oliver Peslier and trained by Mme K Van Den Bos took the third place.

Meanwhile, ‘Sylvine Al Maury’ retained its title in the ‘Free Zone Race’ 1st class 2000m race. The mare took the top place for the second year in a row after winning in the fifth race for fillies and mares of four-year old and above.




‘Sylvine Al Maury’, which is making a comeback from injury, was ridden by J. B. Eyquem and trained by J. Bernard.
