Qatar’s Stallions Cricket Academy's Sri Lankan Tour Completed successfully

Stallions Cricket Academy, which is Qatar’s leading cricket academy, rounded off a hugely successful second tour to Sri Lanka yesterday.

The team played 21 matches spread across three cities against the leading schools and academies in Sri Lanka. Some of these prominent academies have been represented by many of Sri Lankan test players namely Sanath Jayasuriya and Angelo Mathews.

Exuding satisfaction on the tour, Sidath Tennakoon, the Head Coach of Stallions said: “This tour further provided our players with an opportunity to put into match practice the skills they have learned. Whilst our tours provide a lifelong experience for our players, it is also a great opportunity for us to carry Qatar’s name to the international cricketing circle.”

“In the near future we intend to bring cricket teams from overseas countries such as England, Australia, Sri Lanka to Qatar, which will not only help develop the game but also promote Sports Tourism,” he further added.

The tour group was divided into three teams in the Under 10, Under 13 and Under 16 age categories. In many ways, history was created as this was the largest ever-overseas tour for the Stallions. They have previously embarked on tours to England, Oman, Dubai, Australia, and Sri Lanka. The teams were managed by ICC qualified coaches on the previous occasions. Former Sri Lanka fast bowler, Chaminda Vaas conducted a coaching camp during the tour this year. Q-Tickets, Qatar’s leading e-ticketing platform were the main sponsors for this year’s tour.

Dr. Tejinder Sigh, Chairman of Q-Tickets, spoke about the role of his company and about further forays into sponsoring tours: “We were delighted to be the main sponsor of the Stallions tour to Sri Lanka. As an organization, we promote sports and cricket is something special for us. We are extremely happy with the way the tour progressed and the success they achieved.”
