The airline launched this initiative to celebrate the upcoming joyous Onam season. P.C. Vishnunadh, the Minister for Tourism and Culture in Kerala, inaugurated the meal. He attended the launch event in Thiruvananthapuram alongside several airline executives. Sunil Suresh, the Head of Marketing for the Air India group, also participated in the celebration.

Onam stands as one of the most cherished cultural festivals in Kerala. The occasion embodies beautiful values of togetherness, deep gratitude, and cultural pride. The initiative brings a comforting taste of home to the large Malayali community abroad. Travelers must place their orders at least 18 hours before their scheduled departure.

The promotion runs actively between August 15 and August 31, 2026. The Gourmair Onasadya costs 500 rupees and features a wonderful selection of traditional dishes. The menu includes Matta Rice, Sambar, Avial, Koottu Curry, and Erissery. Diners will also enjoy Thoran, Mango Pickle, Inji Puli, and sweet Palada Pradhaman. The airline presents the meal beautifully on a traditional banana leaf. The special packaging draws inspiration from the iconic golden-bordered Kasavu handlooms of Kerala.
