Shelling kills two in Russia’s Belgorod region
Two people were murdered and four others, including a toddler, were injured in overnight shelling in Russia’s Belgorod region, the regional authorities said in a statement carried by the Russian news outlet Sputnik.
A mother and a kid were taken by emergency medical crews to a medical facility in the city of Belgorod, the statement added. Another woman was also treated for shrapnel wounds by paramedics who gave first assistance.
The bombardment damaged residential buildings. The regional statement said one property was completely demolished and a neighbouring residence had roof damage and shattered windows. Its fence was destroyed as well.
The incident adds to existing security problems in the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine.
