State Council Participates In Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly In Tanzania

Promoting Good Governance Globally

The State Council participated in the 153rd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union today. The prestigious international event took place in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania. The Council of Oman delegation joined representatives from parliaments across the globe. The assembly operated under the general theme of promoting good governance and empowering societies. Delegates discussed inclusion, trust, and creating equal opportunities for all citizens. They also addressed issues related to international peace, security, sustainable development, and human rights.

Highlighting Oman Vision 2040

Her Excellency Dr. Shamsa bint Masoud Al-Shaibani delivered a speech during her committee meeting. She serves as a Member of the Committee on Democracy and Human Rights. She affirmed the Sultanate of Oman’s strong support for preserving human dignity and promoting peace. She noted that human beings represent the ultimate focus and goal of all national development. This principle is clearly embodied in the priorities of Oman Vision 2040. She stressed the importance of turning recommendations into implementable programs that enhance child security. She also called for protecting workers’ rights and empowering people with disabilities.

Enhancing Parliamentary Cooperation

The State Council also participated in the session of the Governing Council of the Union. They discussed organizational issues and explored ways to enhance cooperation between member parliaments. The participation included meetings of the Association of Secretaries General of National Parliaments. These meetings focused on exchanging experiences and best practices in managing parliamentary institutions. The delegation included His Excellency Khalid bin Ahmed Al-Saadi and Her Excellency Dr. Aisha bint Saeed Al-Ghabshi.
