70% OF WORK ON PASSENGER TERMINAL AT DUQM AIRPORT COMPLETE: MOTC

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) has said that 70 per cent of the work of the third phase involving the passenger terminal at Duqm Airport has been completed. The ministry said in a statement that it hopes to complete the project by the end of this year.

The project includes the construction of a terminal in a total area of 8,660sq m with a capacity estimate of half a million annual passengers.

Statistics released by Oman Airports Management Company indicated a growth of air traffic at Duqm Airport where the number of passengers reached 15,000 on board 234 flights. It is a 14.15 per cent increase on the total air traffic until the middle of 2017.

The work at Duqm Airport was divided into three phases, the first and second including the runway and taxiway that can accommodate Airbus A380s, an extensive road network and electricity networks.
