Oman Customs Announces New Rules for Transit Goods
The Directorate General of Customs just announced an exciting new package. These new facilities streamline the entry of transit goods efficiently.
The updated rules officially take effect today, March 31. This update introduces significant procedural shifts to enhance trade flow.
It directly supports the commercial community across the Sultanate.
Streamlined Container Rules
The new regulations permit empty containers to enter and exit easily. Truckers can now move them without filing a customs declaration.
However, security teams must inspect all containers using mandatory scanners. Companies can complete transit declarations right at the entry port.
They only need a simple booking number for this step. Officials will only release containers that have physically arrived.
Simplified Vehicle Transit from GCC
The directorate also simplified rules for vehicles and heavy equipment. This rule applies specifically to imports arriving from GCC ports.
Importers now only need a basic transit declaration form. They no longer require a customs card or export certificate.
The Royal Oman Police continually commits to seamless cross-border trade. These efficient logistics will significantly bolster the national economy.
