10,000 trees for this part of Muscat

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs is handing over 10,000 saplings to Muscat Municipality.

The municipality will plant the trees in Al Amerat to help increase the local green cover as part of an initiative that started three years ago.

A statement read: "The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs has delivered the first shipment of saplings [out of 10,000] of local

trees to Muscat Municipality with the aim to plant over 10,000 saplings in the Wilayat of Al Amerat.

"This cooperation programme is a part of the initiative Ashgar (Arabic for trees) which the ministry launched in March 3, 2016 in order to preserve local plants and protect them," the statement added.

Muscat municipality called the partnership between the two government agencies an effort to be proud of.
