Amphibious Tourist bus service launched in Khasab

Tourists visiting Khasab can hop on to the newly-launched amphibious bus service to take a tour of this picturesque wilayat.

Launched by the Golden Coast Travel and Tourism Company, it is the first such tourism service to be launched anywhere in the country.

Speaking to Us, Abdul Rahman Ahmed Almulla, GM of Golden Coast Travel and Tourism Company, said, “Khasab is the springboard for tourists visiting Musandam. I started this service so that more travellers get to enjoy the beauty of this governorate. We imported the bus from Europe and the service was launched on October 30.”

Almulla said that the 90-minute trip is equally divided between the land and sea. “The trip starts on land at 11am passing through several picturesque spots in Khasab before entering the sea. Tourists get a chance to enjoy the waters of the Strait of Hormuz through this trip.”

The 34-seater bus can travel 100km/hr on land and seven knots in water. “We are charging RO10 for adults and RO5 for children above two years. There are life jackets, medical equipment and qualified technical staff on the bus.”

He said that it took two years of work to implement the project. “I consulted some international companies that operate in the same field. It took a while to get the licence, but the authorities were very helpful from the beginning. I am looking forward to launching similar services in other parts of the sultanate.”
