Athletics Federation Celebrates Historic 100m Medals At Asian Games

A Milestone For Omani Sports

The Oman Athletics Federation celebrated a historic achievement for national sports today. Runners Ali Al-Balushi and Mulham Al-Balushi secured silver and bronze medals. They won these medals in the highly competitive 100-meter sprint. The historic race took place during the 2026 Asian Games. Federation President Saeed bin Mohammed Al Hajri praised the incredible performance. This marks the first time Oman won two medals in a single Asian Games race. The 100-meter sprint is traditionally one of the most difficult events. Al Hajri stated this success stems from accumulated institutional work.

Narrowing The Technical Gap

Omani runners are now capable of competing against the best in Asia. This achievement strengthens the presence of Omani sports in continental competitions. It confirms that scientific planning and discipline yield tangible athletic results. The performance proves the technical gap with top Asian nations is narrowing. The runners delivered outstanding performances both technically and mentally under pressure. The federation utilized an integrated technical plan to prepare the athletes. They held intensive training camps in Spain, Turkey, and Salalah. The runners also participated in several major international championships previously.

Aiming For The Olympics

The Muscat Grand Prix helped raise their competitive readiness significantly. The federation meticulously monitored their physical conditioning, nutrition, and mental preparation. Al Hajri expects this achievement to become a turning point for Omani athletics. It will encourage more young people to participate in track and field. The federation aims to help an Omani runner break the 10-second barrier soon. They also want to qualify athletes for the upcoming Olympic Games. Support national athletes as they break records on the global stage. Find the latest sports highlights and analysis at Oman Day.
