Aviation Investment Forum Showcases Business Opportunities At Major Airports

Enhancing Public-Private Partnerships

The Aviation Investment Forum reviewed critical investment opportunities in the sector today. Participants discussed strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors significantly. They examined opportunities related to land development and commercial activities surrounding major airports. The forum focused specifically on Muscat, Salalah, and Sohar airports. Officials want to enhance their role as fully integrated regional economic centers. The Civil Aviation Authority organized the forum at its headquarters in Muscat. Government agencies, operators, investors, and small and medium enterprises participated actively. The event supports the implementation phases of the National Aviation Strategy 2040.

Attracting Quality Investments

The strategy aligns perfectly with the broader economic goals of Vision 2040. His Excellency Engineer Naif bin Ali Al-Abri patronized the important industry event. He affirmed the aviation sector represents a main driver for economic diversification. The Authority previously launched the strategic “Ithmar” program to study sector investments. The forum witnessed the signing of several major agreements and memoranda of understanding. The Authority signed a 35-year concession agreement with Oman Airports Company. This agreement covers the operation, management, and development of the three main airports. They also signed a 20-year concession agreement with Indonesian company GMF AeroAsia.

Developing Aircraft Maintenance Facilities

GMF AeroAsia will operate and manage aircraft maintenance facilities at Muscat International Airport. The agreement aims to provide heavy maintenance services for international airlines locally. Oman Aviation Academy and the Arab Aviation Academy also signed a cooperation agreement. The sector seeks to attract 1.7 billion Omani riyals in cumulative private investment.
