Beware of these illegal DTH operators in Oman

Muscat: A leading direct-broadcast satellite provider serving the Middle East and North Africa has warned that many Direct-to-Home (DTH) television operators are illegal in Oman.

Many Direct-to-Home (DTH) television operators from South Asian countries do not have the requisite licence to operate in Middle East, claims the authorised dealers for television viewing services in Oman.

"Dish TV, Airtel, Tata Sky are illegal in Oman as per Ministry of Commerce and Industry. All activities (viewing, buying, selling, distribution, repair, activation etc) related to the above are liable for prosecution," according to OSN Pehla,a direct-broadcast satellite provider serving Middle East and North Africa.

The company placed adverts in national newspapers citing three Royal Decrees on property rights, trademarks law and laws related to copyright and neighbouring rights, warning that anyone using the services in Oman is acting illegally.
