Fire cases rise 13 per cent in 2016 compared to year before
The number of fires reported in Oman rose by 13 percent from 2015 to 2016 according to figures published by the National Center for Statistics (NCSI).
There were a total of 4,157 fires reported across the country in 2016, the report explained.
According to NCSI “1,100 fires broke out in residential houses, from a total of 4,157 fires around the Sultanate in 2016,”
Of this total, the Public Authority for Civil Defense and Ambulance (PACDA) said 354 were farm fires due to the inappropriate disposal of agricultural waste – and that, the report added, was a problem that was still occurring.
