First Leg Of Local Camel Races Begins In The Wilayat Of Adam
A Massive Gathering Of Competitors
The 2026/2027 local camel racing season kicked off in another governorate today. The Omani Camel Racing Federation launched competitions in the Wilayat of Adam. The races took place at the famous Al-Bashayer Camel Racing Track. This exciting cultural and sporting event will continue for three days. The first day featured 18 races specifically for the Al-Hajaij category. This included 12 races for female camels and six for male camels. The competitors raced over a fast three-kilometer distance. Approximately 650 camels from various governorates participated in the massive event.
Thrilling Race Results
The large turnout demonstrates the enduring popularity of the traditional sport. In the first race, “Nakrim” achieved first place for its owner. Dawood bin Sulaiman Al-Tabai proudly claimed the initial victory. “Hadaf,” owned by Shihab bin Hamad Al-Jahafi, won the second race. “Nasi,” owned by Badr bin Hamad Al-Junaibi, secured the third race. The competition remained intense throughout the entire schedule of events. Various owners celebrated their hard-earned victories as the day progressed. The first leg of the local races continues tomorrow at the track.
Looking Forward To Day Two
Tomorrow's schedule features 12 races for the Al-Laqaya category. These older camels will compete over a longer four-kilometer distance.
