GCC leaders pay tribute to late HM Sultan Qaboos

Al-Ula: On behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers led the Sultanate’s delegation at the 41st Summit of GCC leaders at Al-Ula city in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

In his speech, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said: “This year, the world  has lost two great leaders: the Late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour and Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al JabirAl Sabah, who have played a remarkable role in supporting the Gulf Cooperation Council’s march”.

He said that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has issued directives on naming this summit as the “Sultan  Qaboos and Sheikh Sabah Summit”.

He also praised the efforts of the late Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jabir Al Sabah, Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmed Al Jabir Al Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait and the support of the US and all parties whose efforts have led to the reaching of the Al Ula Declaration.

The  Emir of Kuwait gave a speech in which he praised the keenness of the GCC States on convening the summit for the support of the joint Arab and GCC march aimed at meeting the aspirations of their people.

Praising the role of the late Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jabir Al Sabah and his efforts which has contributed towards reaching this declaration, he also valued the tremendous efforts accorded by the brotherly leaders,  US President Donald Trump and Special advisor to the US President Jared Kushner whose efforts have led to the success of the Declaration.

The GCC Leaders signed the final communiqué of the 41st Summit and Al Ula Declaration.
The meeting was attended by  the Senior Advisor to the US President, Jared Kushner; Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al Othaimin, Secretary General of the OIC, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the Arab League.
