Liwa Plastic Industries Complex starts trial operation
Liwa Plastic Industries Complex has started trial operation.
A statement issued online by Oman News Agency said, "Oman Oil and Orpic group (OQ), has announced the start of performance test at Liwa Plastic Industries Complex in the Wilayat of Sohar."
OQ said, "This project is a step forward in its vision aimed to secure a sustainable future for energy in the Sultanate through the diversification of products and by upgrading added value from crude oil and liquefied gas. It is aimed to be an important source of economic diversification and employment of Omani youth."
ONA also said that" For the first time in the Sultanate that the Sultanate produces 880,000 tons per annum of polyethene, the most commonly used plastic in the world and constitutes 40 per cent of total plastic applications."
"The complex also will produce 300,000 tons of polypropylene, the fastest growing product of its kind in the Sultanate," the statement added.
