Ministry of Manpower issues clarification on reduced wages of national workforce

The Ministry of Manpower has issued a clarification on the information being circulated regarding reducing the wages of the national workforce.

A statement issued online by the Ministry of Man Power said, “The ministry followed up on what was circulated regarding reducing the national workforce wages by 50% instead of 30% according to the current conditions, the ministry confirms that the statement of the Supreme Committee in charge to deal with COVID-19, did not specify the percentage.”

“The Committee gave the right to companies affected by the provision of paid wages of annual leaves and after the leaves are exhausted, it is permissible to negotiate a reduction of wages for a period of three months in exchange for reducing work hours,” the ministry added.
