Multi-use bags alternative option to plastic bags: Environment Authority

Muscat: Multi-use bags are an alternative option to the plastic bags that will be banned from January 1 and are available in the market.

The Environment Authority said: "The multi-use (environmentally friendly) bags are made from several materials such as cloth, paper and other organic materials, and they are also available in commercial stores."

"The replacement bags can be used more than 100 times because they are not less than 50 microns thick. Whereas, plastic shopping bags are single use only and need more than 1000 years to degrade," the authority added.
