Need specific complaints on overpricing of computers: Authority

Muscat: Many complaints received by the Consumer Protection Authority on overpricing of computers are general in nature and more specific details are required for action, Hamad Al Barwani, Director General of Studies and Development at the Consumer Protection Authority, said in a statement to Al Shabiba.

He invited consumers to provide the authority with details of the stores that raised the prices adding that the authority had surveyed the price of computers in the market before the decision to opt for remote study for students.

"The Ministry of Education has set specifications for computers for all stages of students from grade 1 to grade 12 and parents should buy what is suitable for their children, taking into account their academic stages," he said adding that the Authority would act on any specific information.
