Oman CrackDown on Halwa Shops after the Viral Plastic Bucket Video
Recently, an Omani store, which used to make halwa by melting plastic buckets, was shut down ,as announced by the Ministry of Regional Municipalities. The video which was uploaded online pos which showed people in the shop making halwa but using plastic buckets that melts to shift the halwa mix from a large bowl (industrial) to a smaller one (plastic). The videos had the Omanis condemning this conduct of the shop employees.
The Omani halwa makers have been toured by the inspection teams to ensure the health and safety measurements after the sweet shop was shut down for melting plastic buckets while transferring the halwa. As per the statements from from the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, various governorates across Oman had inspections being conducted. During the campaign, lot of unusable pots and tools were confiscated by the ministry.

With the campaign, the ministry aims to spread awareness on the ideal ways to store the final product and raw materials, cooking and washing the sites healthy and clean and how to keep the preparation
Finally, the ministry warned the violators that the latter would face legal consequences if they are found guilty.
