Oman National Debating Championship Starts April 4, 2026
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth will launch an exciting event. The National Debating Championship begins its preliminary rounds on April 4.
The Oman Debate Centre proudly co-organizes this massive national competition. Exactly 100 different teams will participate in the upcoming tournament.
Schools will send 12 teams to compete against older students. Universities, colleges, and sports clubs will field the remaining 88 teams.
Developing Youth Skills and Vision
Director General Hilal bin Saif Al Siyabi praised the educational initiative. The competition teaches young people crucial public speaking and persuasion skills.
It also promotes critical thinking and highly responsible national citizenship. Students will discuss artificial intelligence, local environment, health, and cultural development.
All specific debate themes align perfectly with the ambitious Oman Vision 2040.
Competition Stages and Locations
The championship features two main stages for all eager competitors. Organizers will hold the exciting qualifying rounds across four specific regions.
Buraimi will host 26 teams from several surrounding northern governorates. Muscat will welcome 43 teams from the central and eastern areas.
Judges will evaluate 11 educational governorates through a special virtual stage. Dhofar and Al Wusta will host the final eight qualifying teams.
The Grand Finals and Training
Muscat will host the grand finals during early May. Twenty top teams will compete fiercely over three exciting days.
The championship also features excellent training programs and skill-building workshops. These helpful sessions actively enhance the leadership abilities of all young participants.
Organizers will also host interactive exhibitions alongside the main debate competition.
