Oman Population Explodes Past Five Million Mark As Muscat Dominates National Demographics

Recording the Massive Surge

The Sultanate of Oman recorded a massive population boom recently. The National Centre for Statistics and Information released highly anticipated demographic data today. The total population officially reached 5,388,513 people by late May. This represents a solid 1.6 percent growth rate compared to last year. Muscat Governorate completely dominates the national demographic landscape right now. The capital city houses 1,538,312 residents currently. This massive number equals 28.6 percent of the entire Omani population. North Al Batinah secured second place with 945,647 people. South Al Batinah followed closely with 589,152 residents. Al Dakhiliyah took fourth place, hosting 574,354 citizens today. Dhofar Governorate registered 535,623 people to claim fifth place overall. The government tracks these vital demographic shifts with extreme precision. Urban planners need accurate population data to build new infrastructure. Rapidly growing cities require massive new investments in schools and hospitals.

Fueling the Future Economy

A booming population provides a strong, energetic workforce for the future economy. Oman Vision 2040 relies heavily on this expanding national talent pool. Other regions also showed steady, highly encouraging population growth. South Sharqiyah recorded 377,701 residents recently. North Sharqiyah holds 322,914 people within its borders. Dhahirah registered 248,813 citizens, while Buraimi reported 135,629 people. Al Wusta houses 64,566 residents to support its growing industrial hubs. Finally, Musandam recorded 55,802 people living in the strategic northern peninsula. State officials use this crucial data to distribute national resources fairly.

Securing the Borders

A strong population guarantees absolute national security and economic independence. The government wants to spread this massive growth across all governorates equally. They build new cities to prevent overcrowding inside the busy capital. We monitor these massive demographic shifts to keep you perfectly informed.
