Oman to open schools on November 1

Muscat: Schools in Oman will open from Sunday, 1st November 2020.

A statement issued by Oman News Agency (ONA) said, ”Within the framework of the Supreme Committee's follow-up of the Ministry of Education's efforts in operating schools for the academic year 2020/2021, it confirms the decision to start the school year for all students on Sunday, 1st November 2020, and the decision to adopt the integrated education curriculum for all schools, with a focus on activating education from a distance.”

The Supreme Committee in charge of dealing with COVID-19 held a meeting, on Wednesday, headed by His Excellency Sayyid Hammoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior - Chairman of the Committee, and in the presence of His Excellencies and His Highnesses its members, at the Ministry of Interior's general office to follow up on the developments of this pandemic, and measures to prevent it and ways to avoid its spread and deal with its various effects.

The statement added, "The Supreme Committee also affirms its continuous follow-up, through the Ministry of Education and other relevant bodies, of the educational process in light of the development of epidemiological indicators in the various governorates of the Sultanate.”

“In response to multiple requests to involve community members in national efforts to confront the coronavirus pandemic, the Supreme Committee has decided to open the door for volunteering in various sectors related to the pandemic, and the competent authorities will announce the organizing mechanisms for this. May God Almighty protect everyone from all evil and harm,” the statement added.
