Omanday Weekly News Roundup: HM Sultan Qaboos bin Said issued four Royal Decrees

Since the last week the Sultanate has witnessed a lot of happenings in the country. Here are the top headlines as part of our weekly news roundup:

HM Sultan Qaboos bin Said issued four Royal Decrees.

Royal Decree No. 47/2017 endorses the oil agreement signed on November 14th, 2017 between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, Occidental Hafar LLC and Oman Oil Exploration and Production Company for Block 30. Royal Decree No. 48/2017 endorses the oil agreement signed on November 14th, 2017 between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and ARA Petroleum Oman B31 Ltd for Block 31 B.

Royal Decree No. 49/2017 endorses the oil agreement signed on November 14th, 2017 between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and Tethys Oil Montasar Ltd for Block 49. 

Royal Decree No. 50/2017 endorses the oil agreement signed on November 14th, 2017 between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, Eni Oman B.V. and Oman Oil Exploration and Production Company for Block 52.

Oman Air offers 50 kilos free baggage to Omani students. Oman Air, the national carrier for the Sultanate of Oman, will support the Omani students by offering them an additional 20 kilos of free baggage on all international flights originating from Oman.

 

An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale occurred in Arabian Sea on Tuesday morning, according to the Earthquake Monitoring Centre at Sultan Qaboos University. Speaking to Times of Oman, an official said that the epicenter of the earthquake is around 320 km away from Duqm, and occured at around 11:44 am.

Oman's highest mountain range, Jebel Shams, recorded temperatures of -5 degrees on Tuesday, according to Al Baddaei. "It is really very cold at night," he added.

Al Naseem and Al Amerat parks will be temporarily closed from December 18, Muscat Municipality (MM) has announced. "In preparation for the launch of the Muscat Festival 2018, Muscat Municipality announces the closure of Al Naseem and Al Amerat parks," the agency announced online.
