Omani students in Florida safe: Mohe

The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) said on Sunday that all Omani students in the Hurricane Irma-hit Florida state in the US are safe.

In a statement issued on its official Twitter account, MoHE stated that Oman’s cultural attaché in the US Dr Talal al Balushi had urged Omani students to shift to safer areas as a precautionary measure.

“We will bear the cost of travel and accommodation. Students must retain the original bills and expenses will be reimbursed accordingly. Omani students in Florida were informed in advance about the need to follow official instructions so that they could plan their evacuations accordingly,” Dr Balushi had said.

In the event of an emergency, the Omani Embassy in the US has asked students to contact 571-722-0000 (extn 9) or 5712652657.

Students can also contact Dr Balushi on his mobile phone at 5712156797.
