Preliminary Rounds Of Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition Begin In Ibri
Encouraging Youth Memorization
The preliminary rounds of the Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition began today. The 34th session started its activities in the Wilayat of Ibri. The Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science organized the prestigious event. The preliminary rounds in the Al Dhahirah Governorate will continue for four days. This year, the competition features 28 centers distributed across the Sultanate of Oman. Organizers added two new centers located in Al Jabal Al Akhdar and Dima. Youssef bin Mohammed Al-Balushi serves as the Vice Chairman of the Qualifying Committees. He provided details regarding the number of local participants this year.
Structuring The Competition Levels
He stated 141 male and female contestants will participate in this specific stage. They represent a portion of the 2,214 total participants competing nationwide. The competition evaluates contestants across seven distinct memorization levels. The first level requires the memorization of the entire Holy Quran. The subsequent levels require memorizing 24, 18, 12, 6, 4, and 2 consecutive parts. Specific birth year requirements apply to the lower memorization levels to encourage youth. The competition aims to encourage young men and women to memorize the Book. It promotes mastering recitation, intonation, and correct reading methodologies.
