ROP has arrested 7 people

Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested seven people of African nationalities, including a woman, for fraud and circulation of counterfeit notes of RO50.

According to official sources, a team from the police stations of Ruwi and Azaiba in Muscat and thedepartment of criminal investigation also seized fake currencies worth RO17,000, jewellery and luxury watches from the suspects.

The main defendant was arrested along with a woman and one of the accused while exchanging the currency in the Ruwi, to be transferred out of the Sultanate. The rest of the defendants were arrested in Azaiba and the case has been referred for legal procedures.

Tools, devices and seals used for counterfeiting currencies and other documents were also seized from the accused.
