Salalah Hosts Interactive Exhibition for Disaster Risk Reduction Day

Teaching Families About Emergency Preparedness

The Dhofar Governorate organized an important interactive exhibition today. The Salalah Resilience Center hosted this vital community safety event. Officials chose the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex to hold the gathering. The event celebrates the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. The international community observes this important safety day every October 13. Many government agencies and private civil society organizations participated in the event. Organizers chose "Resilience begins at home" as the official slogan this year. The exhibition specifically targets educational institutions and local families in Dhofar. Officials want to promote community awareness regarding risk prevention and emergency response.

Earning United Nations Recognition

His Excellency Dr. Sheikh Said bin Humaid Al Harthy sponsored the event. He serves as the Governor of Salalah and chairs the Resilience Center. He stated that Salalah remains deeply committed to community sustainability. The city wants to build a local community capable of handling severe challenges. The United Nations recently recognized Salalah as a global center for resilience. This prestigious international recognition increases the city's responsibility to share safety knowledge. The Governor emphasized the vital role of youth in the disaster reduction system. Families must build a strong community culture based on prevention and early preparation.

Engaging Youth Through Interactive Education

The exhibition featured several interactive corners and fun educational competitions. A special storyteller corner presented inspiring stories about surviving past crises. The stories gave children important safety lessons using a highly engaging narrative style. Organizers also launched a special issue of the popular "Murshid" magazine today. This specific publication shows children how to maintain a safe home environment. The Salalah Resilience Center actively transforms national safety strategies into community programs. These practical programs greatly enhance the ability of citizens to cope with disasters.
