The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth organized a major scientific symposium today. The Literary Forum hosted the event at the University of Technology in Sohar. The symposium is titled “Readings in the Thought of Abu al-Abbas Muhammad bin Yazid al-Mubarrad.” Specialists, researchers, and academics attended the two-day educational gathering. His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Mohammed Al Hinai sponsored the prestigious symposium. The event includes nine scholarly papers addressing various aspects of Al-Mubarrad’s life. He stands as a prominent figure in Arabic language, grammar, and literature. The third-century AH scholar possessed deep Omani roots and immense historical influence.

Nasser bin Salem Al-Sawafi explained the primary goals of the symposium. The Ministry wants to highlight figures who built Arab and Islamic civilization. Al-Mubarrad left a scientific legacy that remains present in ancient literary sources. The symposium provides a comprehensive scientific reading of his legacy and thought. Researchers examined the political and intellectual environment that shaped his unique personality. They discussed his famous book “Al-Kamil” and his approach to linguistic argumentation. The first day featured a paper by Dr. Khalil bin Abdullah bin Sulaiman Al-Ajami. He discussed Al-Mubarrad’s scientific biography and his high status in his era.
Analyzing Historical Texts
Dr. Amal Bint Saif Al-Khansouri presented a historical study of the book “Al-Kamil”. Dr. Huda bint Abdulrahman Al-Zadjali addressed Al-Mubarrad’s relationship with the Abbasid era.
