Shortage of Chicken Pox Vaccine Alerted by Healthcare Institutions
The shortage of chicken pox vaccine Varilrix has been alerted by pharmacists and private hospitals. Fresh stock has been received after a gap of few weeks and hence there is no need to worry as said by a healthcare institution. As chicken pox is a viral disease results in spotty rash or fluid filled blisters, it is usual among children
It is the first time that such a shortage was faced as told by the sole supplier of the vaccine in the country viz. Muscat Pharmacy. Certain patients were sent back due to unavailability over the past few weeks.
Along with Chicken pox there are also a shortage in vaccines for typhoid and Hepatitis A. Proper medication and isolation is necessary as Chicken pox is a contagious illness. Finally, it would cost around RO25 for an average chicken pox vaccine.
