Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition Qualifiers Begin In Al Amerat

The preliminary qualifiers for the Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition began. The 34th edition kicked off in the Wilayat of Al Amerat. This prominent annual initiative promotes Quran memorization and spiritual values. The Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science organizes the event. The Al Amerat stage runs for four days at the Waqf Quranic School.

Encouraging Youth To Memorize The Holy Quran

The competition encourages young men and women to memorize the Holy Quran. It improves their abilities in recitation, intonation, and accurate reading. Yousuf bin Mohammed Al Balushi discussed the broader goals of the initiative. He noted it seeks to develop highly skilled Quran reciters. The program prepares talented participants for international Quran competitions.

Interest in this year’s competition remains very high across the nation. Over 2,214 male and female contestants registered for the current edition. Preliminary rounds take place across 28 centers throughout Oman. Officials introduced two new centers this year to accommodate more participants. This nationwide structure allows participants to compete closer to their homes.

Advancing Through Seven Levels Of Competition

The competition features seven distinct levels based on memorization amounts. Age requirements apply to the lower levels to help younger participants. The preliminary qualifying program will continue across different governorates until November. The judging committee has already evaluated hundreds of dedicated contestants.

Eight participants from each level will advance to the final stage. The final qualifiers will take place at the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. The competition preserves Quranic learning within communities across the Sultanate.
