With Sustained ROP effort, Oman has a 72 per cent decline in Road Accidents
In the words of the Commander-in-Chief and Director-General of Traffic for Royal Oman Police(ROP), the reward for the road safety master plan has been reaped by the Sultanate while
the latter celebrates the Traffic Safety Day on 18th October. As per the traffic statistics, the injuries has reduced by 24 per cent, the deaths has decreased by 50 per cent and the traffic accidents has decreased by 72 per cent as compared to the year 2012. The ROP has opened 33 service and management centres in the meanwhile which reflected the directives of the His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
About 762,045 vehicles were inspected and 1,425,581licences were issued out of the 2,679,013 procedures completed by the Traffic departments and service centres last year
Until the end of August 2017, more than 47,000 vehicles have been renewed electronically as contributed by the e-application of the ROP. Since its inauguration, more than 80,000 activities and events was drawn by the affic awareness campaign.
Finally, by spreading traffic awareness and intensifying police presence the Royal Oman Police is still going on with its efforts to reduce accident rates and damages while impacting the field of traffic safety positively.
