Consumer watchdog in Oman recovers OMR26,400 in two months

Consumer protection authorities were able to retrieve OMR26,400 for consumers in Al Dhahirah during the months of July and August of 2017.

"The Department of Consumer Protection in Al Dhahirah governorate was able to recover OMR26,400 during the months of July and August of 2017," the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) reported.
 

 

The amounts were recovered from various sectors such as services, vehicles, electrical equipment, aluminum and blacksmithing services, and others.

During the same period, the department also issued more than 100 fines worth OMR7,503 against commercial establishments in the governorate for a number of violations.

The violations varied from raising the prices of goods and without obtaining the approval of the concerned authorities, to removing the prices of goods and services, and not issuing the bills for the purchase of consumers, as well as other irregularities.
