Muscat to host Fifa Executive Committee meeting on Feb 7

Muscat will be host to the high-profile Fifa executive committee meeting on February 7 at Barr Al Jissah Hotel and Resort with 22 countries participating at the event. The programme will discuss several aspects including the future of the competitions organised by Fifa and the participation of members of the federations in the decisions of Fifa.

It will also look at the programmes provided by Fifa and all aspects related to the transfer of players.  The decision of Fifa to choose the Sultanate to hold the Executive Forum is due to the great position enjoyed by the Sultanate and the strong relationship between the Oman Football Association and the Fifa.

In addition, the President of Fifa during his visit to the Sultanate in October last year, promised that the international team will work hard to support Omani football at all levels in the coming stage. The idea of this summit came from the vision of Fifa President Gianni Infantino to strengthen the relationship between the Fifa and its members and to provide a democratic programme to exchange experiences and information to reach results that help the various decisions that will be taken at the Fifa Council and Conference. There will be 12 summits in different countries chosen by the Fifa from November 2017 to March 2018. The holding of the forum in the Sultanate specifically comes within the strategy of support and cooperation received by the Oman Football Association under the chairmanship of Shaikh Salim bin Said al Wahaibi.
