Top Experts To Attend Fifth Oman Sports Conference On April 12

After an absence of one year, the Oman Sports Conference (OSC) is back with the Ministry of Sports Affairs set to host the fifth edition of the popular event at Sheraton Oman Hotel on April 12.

Leading international speakers on sports will grace the OSC, which was first hosted by the sports ministry in 2013.

The day-long event will feature international experts like Australian Alan Pearson, England's Steve Palmer, Windsor Paul John, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) general secretary and James Tucker.

Besides the speakers from abroad, senior Omani sports officials like Khaled al Hachani and Hisham al Sinani of the sports ministry, Sheikh Saif al Hosni, Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) vice-chairman, H E Khalfan al Naabi, Nizwa Club chairman, and Sulaiman al Balushi, sports management expert, will also address the conference.

Speaking at a press conference to give details, Fahad al Raisi, the director-general for sports development and welfare at the sports ministry and chairman of the organising committee, said that four notable international speakers on sports will address the conference.

The conference, which is expected to be attended by a large number of officials from Oman, will feature three sessions. “This is the fifth time we are hosting the conference and I am happy to say that over the past years, we have managed to yield results. It is a perfect platform for sportspersons, club officials, functionaries of sports associations and youngsters in general to attend this event,” Raisi said.

“I hope we come up with some concrete recommendations at the conference this year to help Oman sports,” he added.

Among the speakers, Pearson is a consultant with Danish football club Esbjerg and is director of SAQ International. He has worked with leading clubs like Bayern Munich and Barcelona and also served as consultant to Nike Worldwide.

Palmer, a former English Premier League player with 587 games in English league, is working as head of systems and technology at the Premier League since 2012.

Tucker is an international vocational specialist and is managing director at Real World Academies while Paul John is a senior Asian football body member and has been closely involved with the FIFA's development programmes.
