Oman relaxes visa restrictions for expatriates

A year-long tourist visa, will be provided to the foreigners from more countries to Oman. The announcement was made recently by the Director General of Passports and Residency.

Presently, 68 countries, including 39 European nations, 10 South American countries has their  privilege being extended to, besides 19 other states.

Provided that the citizens of these nations have a visa to enter the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, or have a Schengen Convention State visa, additional countries have been added to this list.

Along with strengthening the service sector and by allowing tourists and foreign investors to spend more time in the country, the move is expected to boost the Omani economy.

Tourists from these countries do not need sponsors for Oman visa now

Upon arrival at designated locations, the eligible foreigners can apply for a tourist visa through the ROP website. A passport that remains valid for more than six months has to be presented by the foreigners. The cost for the new  tourist visa, valid for one year, would be be OMR 50. Also without a local sponsor, the visa is to be granted to eligible foreigners.
