4. Ascend Jebel Akhdar (The Green Mountain)

A relatively short, steep drive from Nizwa ascends Jebel Akhdar. The Arabic name translates poetically to the "Green Mountain." This vast mountain plateau sits two full kilometers above sea level. The high elevation provides wonderfully cool temperatures all year round. The crisp weather offers a perfect escape from the scorching desert heat.
