According to experts, swimming in a piranha-infested water the day is not advisable as they normally hunt for food in the morning and rest by night. If awakened in the middle of the night, they will opt to run away instead of attacking as long as they are not disturbed.

If you do not have a choice but cross piranha-infested water, better throw some meat to distract them; just make sure you move faster as they can consume any meat in a span of one minute.

Experts also suggest that this kind of fish is attracted with blood, so if you have wounds, better stay away from their place as they can eat larger meat if they think they’re wounded.
