19-year-old girl raped by ’Facebook friend’ in movie theatre

A 19-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a movie theatre in Hyderabad and the police have arrested the prime accused. 

The girls became friends with the accused on social media. She went out with him to watch Padmaavat in Prashanth Theatre where she was sexually assaulted. 

"The girl was raped inside movie theatre. Two months back, the victim and the accused became friends through social media," said Mathaiah, circle inspector. 

The police said that the accused was trying to take advantage of the fact that the theatre had very less crowd. 

The accused was arrested on January 31 and on the following day; he was remanded to judicial custody.

The victim received severe injuries on her private parts and is undergoing treatment now.

A case has been registered under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and action has also been initiated against the theatre owner for negligence.
