Baby girl dies after drowning in bucket

In a tragic incident, a one-year-old Bangladeshi girl drowned in a bucket of water inside the bathroom of her family house in Al Dhaid Area of Sharjah.

Medical sources at Al Dhaid Hospital told that the baby girl, identified as Ganat Mohammed Choudary, was brought by her parents to the hospital motionless due to internal bleeding in her brain after the incident.

"The baby's head had hit on some solid material and a large quantity of water entered into her lungs, causing internal swelling. We have conducted cardiac resurrection for 20 minutes but there was no response. So she was declared dead."

Mohamed Ayoub Choudary, father of the deceased girl, said that the girl was playing around in the house but she suddenly disappeared. When her mother started looking for her, she was found in the huge bucket filled with water inside the bathroom. The girl might have fallen in the bucket upside down, causing the water fill her lungs.

The baby was then rushed to the hospital by her parents.

The police said that they were notified by Al Dhaid Hospital about the tragic incident and the police launched an investigation to find out the cause of the death. The initial investigation report revealed that the parents were unable to tell the police exactly about how much time she remained in the bucket.

According to the police, this is the second such incident in the region, which happens due to parents' lack of attention towards babies. The police have urged parents and family members to watch the movements of infants and small babies and ensure that there are no such objects which could cause them harm. Parents must also make sure not to leave any container filled with water reachable to children, who are generally fond of playing with water, warned the police.
