Qatar: Bahrain Imposing Entry Visa on Qataris Regrettable
Qatar has expressed its regret on the decision of Bahrain to impose entry visa on Qatari citizens, In a statement issued on Tuesday, H.E. Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri, Qatar's Permanent Representative to the UN Missions in Geneva, said that the move reveals Bahrain's “persistence in severing ties of kinship between the Gulf families in contravention of the provisions and principles of the Islamic religion.”
Al Mansouri described the unprecedented measure as a “flagrant violation” of GCC agreements and resolutions. The measure contradicts the claim by siege nations that they will not harm Qatari citizens, he pointed out.
Bahrain has announced that it will impose entry visas on Qatari citizens and residents, terming it a security measure. The measure will be applicable from November 10.
GCC nationals could travel in the six member states carrying an identity card. Bahrain, along with Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt has been imposing a travel boycott on Qatar since June 5 denying Qatari aircrafts or ships permission to travel. The new move will make it difficult for Qatari citizens and residents to travel to Bahrain even through neutral countries.
