Apparently, a Saudi man has expressed that he’s unconditionally willing to pay SAR100K or P1.39 million penalty for the release of a Bicolana who is being held in a Jeddah jail to have her repatriated soon.
Abdulaziz Khamees told GMA News Online in the presence of Consul RJ Sumague of the Philippine Consulate in Jeddah that he is willing to pay the penalty to free the female OFW Junevie San Juan.
Junevie was arrested October 9, 2013; a few days after her arrival in the Kingdom as a first timer to work as dental assistant.
She was sentenced to three years jail time for smuggling illegal drugs from Manila.
Junevie denied the allegation and insisted she was a victim of a drug-smuggling syndicate.
Consul Sumague earlier announced that Junevie could be released from jail as she has already served her sentence, but still need to pay 100,000 Saudi Riyals before she could be released.
Abdulaziz believes that Junevie was a victim and last December he talked to her parents while they were on an arranged visit to Jeddah.
Abdulaziz told Junevie’s parents not to worry as there’s no problem, as he will help them.
Meanwhile, Consul Sumague thanked Abdulaziz for his unconditional help.
