Shocking! Class V Girl Brutally Gangraped, Set On Fire By Schoolmates In Assam

It's really sad to admit the fact but according to reports, on an average, in 2017, 2,049 rape cases were reported as opposed to 2,064 in 2016. What will shock you even more is that in 96.63 per cent of the rape cases the accused was known to the victim, with friends or family friends being the perpetrators in 38.99 per cent of the cases.

In a nerve-wrecking incident, a class 5 student died in the hospital after she was allegedly gang-raped by three of her own school mates. The boys then had set her on fire. The incident took place in Assam’s Nagaon district, 122 km from Guwahati.

The girl was admitted at the Nagaon Civil hospital with 90 per cent burn injuries, reported News18. She died on the way to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.

Two of the rape accused have been arrested while another remains absconding. Nagaon SP Shankar Raimedhi said that he went to see her at the hospital but she was in pain and was not able to talk. “However, we have recorded a dying declaration of the victim, and based on that we have nabbed two accused - they are both juveniles who studied in the same school along with the victim. Operation is underway to nab the third,” he told News18.

The terrible incident happened at the girl's house when she was alone at home after returning from school. The three accused barged into the house, and after raping her, poured kerosene and set her ablaze. One of her family members who saw smoke coming from the shed rushed in and found her in a critical condition. She was immediately taken to hospital. Police further said that all three accused are known acquaintances of the victim from the same village.
