Samsung Galaxy A5 2018 Clears FCC Certification, Spotted Listed on Company Website

Samsung is working on the next-generation Galaxy A phone aka the Galaxy A5 (2018). The smartphone will be launched in the coming year. Ahead of the official announcement, the smartphone has been subjected to several leaks and rumours. A leak from last week hinted at Galaxy S8 and Note 8-like infinity display for the A5 (2018). The smartphone has now been spotted on FCC, hinting at the imminent launch. Not only that, it has also been spotted listed on Samsung's official website. This was first tipped by Roland Quandt.

Samsung's A series usually debuts around the turn of the year, and 2018's editions are not going to be any exception. Apart from hinting at the imminent launch, the FCC listing also reveals some specification details about the upcoming A5 (2018). Similar to the previous rumours, the FCC listing also hints at near edge-to-edge screen for the A5 (2018) smartphone. Earlier, a new HTML5 test listing also seemingly confirmed the same.

 

Apart from the display, the FCC also listing reveals the hardware and software details that the smartphone may ship with. It suggests that the device will come with a model number -- A530N and include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The sensor will be placed right below the rear camera setup. It is also said that the next-gen A series Samsung smartphone may come with improved camera department compared to its predecessors.

In terms of the specifications, the Samsung A5 (2018) is expected to come with a 5.5-inch display with 1080 x 2160 pixel resolution. The device is also said to be powered by Exynos 7885 processor and come coupled with 4GB of RAM. On the software front, the smartphone is said to run on the latest OS - Oreo.

Apart from the FCC certification, Samsung -- over the weekend also confirmed the existence of the A5 (2018) via a support page on it's South Korean website. The support doesn't confirm any specs details for the time being. 

Alongside the A5 (2018), the South Korean smartphone manufacturer is also working on the successor of this year's flagship phones - Galaxy S8 and S8+. There are going to be S9 and S9+. These 2018's flagship phones have been subjected to several leaks and rumours already. Going by the rumours, the S9 series of phones are expected to come with S8-like infinity display. S9 and S9+ will be a lot similar to the S8 phones, apart from some differences on the hardware and software front.

S9 series of phones are expected to come with Qualcomm's upcoming processor aka Snapdragon 845 SoC. Rumours are that Samsung may swipe off the first batch of the processor for the S9 and S9+. The smartphone may come with Oreo. Samsung has already released the beta version of the Oreo software for the S8 and S8+ users and is soon going to roll out the final version of it. It is also noteworthy that Samsung hasn't revealed any details about these upcoming smartphones as of yet.
