Dubai Closes Iconic Burj Al Arab for Massive Restoration

Dubai will close the famous Burj Al Arab hotel soon. Operator Jumeirah announced an 18-month extensive restoration project today.

The magnificent dhow sail silhouette beautifully shapes the Dubai skyline. The iconic hotel proudly holds a legendary seven-star luxury status.

Famous Architect Leads the Restoration

Paris-based interior architect Tristan Auer will direct this massive work. Jumeirah officials picked him after a highly rigorous selection process.

Auer previously completed high-profile projects like the Hôtel de Crillon. He founded his own successful design studio in 2002.

Auer considers this incredible Dubai project a profound professional privilege. He deeply honors the legacy of this extraordinary architectural landmark.

Preserving a Global Luxury Masterpiece

Workers will carefully refresh the famous interior hotel decorations. They will respectfully preserve the original character of the building.

Jumeirah leaders compare this careful approach to restoring fine art. The stunning 321-meter building opened its doors 27 years ago.

It successfully placed Dubai on the global luxury travel map.

Stunning Features and Future Legacy

The gorgeous property features 198 highly exclusive luxury suites. Guests enjoy beautiful marble, gold leaf, and Swarovski crystal interiors.

A bespoke spiral chandelier holds 210 heavy, sparkling crystal tubes. This iconic hotel even hosted a historic helipad tennis match.

Jumeirah CEO Thomas B. Meier praised the exceptional property today. He promised the restoration will carefully preserve its unique heritage.

The building remains an exclusive landmark in the Jumeirah collection.
